So... School started this week, and the new routine is back in action. So long to our wonderful summer.
It really was a great summer. Despite the cool temps, we got to enjoy some sun in various parts of the US! Some here, some in CA and a whole lot in Missouri!
Yep. The kids and I got to travel to Missouri last week and spend 7 wonderful days (5, if you subtract travel days!) with my 'baby' sister! And, four of those glorious warm sultry summer days were spent at the Lake of the Ozarks. It's been six years since we have seen each other, and six years since we did the exact same vacation. Heaven. heaven. heaven.
When we came home it was in shock. Sixty Degrees at the Boise airport last Sunday. And the degrees dropped along the drive home. It had been in the mid-thirty's up to the high 50's that weekend. A cold snap.
Depressing...if you ask me. It has taken me four days to get back and adjust to life here at 3,500 feet. And the reality that summer is over and fall is around the corner. Oh.. and both my boys have colds... A true indication that the season's are changing!

My Egg Soapbox:
While we were gone the whole egg scare peaked. Another stinkin' recall - due to unsanitary conditions in a confined, super-sized industrialized facility. And the government's preventive cure? Cook your eggs - thoroughly. I'm sure you've heard the commercials 'hardly cooked eggs are hardly safe - says Joe, the down home chicken farmer'. And the rumor is that two senators are proposing legislation to vaccinate all chickens (against what?) - that's what I heard from one source. Let's see. The contaminated feed source was eaten by chickens (not to mention the filth they lived in) - and passed on through to the egg, and then the consumers who got sick.
Can't we cure the real problem instead of band-aid everything?
Eat clean foods, produced at clean facilities, and from healthy animals. Period.
End of soapbox.

So.. This weekend Sami and Dick will be at the Portland Market, and Jake and I will be at Boise. And, as a reminder, now that Fall is here, it is also time to get your reservations in for bulk lamb and beef.
The prices are on the rack cards (price sheets) that you get at your market from us. If you need me to email one to you, just let us know!
See you at the markets!
